The following day, Kurt and Lekan goes to the Alesh's residence.
Immediately they entered, Ladi runs to Kurt...)

LADI : Daddy!
KURT : my boy! How are you today?
LADI : Daddy, I'm ready to go with you...
KURT : em...(Looks at Nike)...good afternoon ma.
NIKE : (ignoring Kurt)...Bro Lekan...good afternoon.
LEKAN : how are you Nike?...(Taking his seat)...where is Tade?
NIKE : I'll call him, he's inside the bedroom...(Goes to call Tade)
KURT : Ladi look at big Dad, have you forgotten him?
LADI : (looks at Lekan)....Big Dad...(Trying to recall)...
KURT : you can't remember Big Dad that took you to Disney land?
LADI : no Daddy...
LEKAN : come, come and say hi to me...(Stretching out his hands to
Ladi who is trying to place the familiar face)...good boy....(He
carries him on his lap)...how are you?
LADI : very well...

(Few minutes later, Tade walks out of the room...)
TADE : Bro Lekan....(Extending his hand shake)...
LEKAN : Tade...I came to discuss Lara and Ladi's issue...
TADE : okay...(Taking his seat)
LEKAN : what of Nike?
TADE : Nike!....she'll be here...
LEKAN : hope you're hearing from your son?
TADE : yes. He's still in Naval college.
LEKAN : that's good...
(Nike joins them...)
LADI : Daddy, let's leave from here... I'll go home with you and Big Dad.
LEKAN : I came to speak to you people about Ladi...
TADE : okay..(Paying more attention to Lekan)
LEKAN : I've heard how he has been doing without his Mum, so I think
you two should allow him stay with Kurt till...
NIKE : (cuts in)…God forbid!...why will I do that? He's my grandson, I
can't allow him to stay with a total stranger.
LEKAN : look Nike, Kurt is not a stranger to Ladi. In fact, he loves
being with Kurt more than his Mother. You can confirm that from Lara.
Most times, Kurt was the one that took him to school. If he's with
Kurt, it’s possible he will he alright till Lara comes back.
NIKE : who says he’s not alright here? This is his house...
TADE : (turns to Nike)…you and I know he’s not happy being here
because he’s not used to us...would you rather allow the boy to stay
here and become sick?....(Turns to Lekan)...look Bro, I don't mind,
all I'm after is his wellbeing, because for the past few days he has
been crying. He doesn't sleep at night, neither does he allow us to
sleep, asking for his mummy and Daddy. So please Kurt can take him
along...(Turns to Kurt)...but can you really have time for him?
KURT : yes I can.
LEKAN : Kurt as always being dedicated to Ladi since he was a baby, so
I can trust him with the boy.
TADE : okay but just bring him here often so he gets to know us better.
KURT : yes uncle, I definitely will.
TADE : (turns to Nike)...go and get his clothes.

(Nike hisses and leaves reluctantly to pack Ladi's things.)

LEKAN : so, Jide, take him to the school we talked about on Monday. I
would have taken him there myself but I don't want the place to bring
back those memories...
TADE : hmm....that's true.
KURT : okay sir.




The following Monday, Kurt and Bukola takes Ladi to Bola's school for
admission. They were allowed to see the head-mistress almost
immediately....)

HM : Mr. Kurt right?
KURT : yes. Good afternoon
HM : good afternoon. I'm Miss Victoria.
HM : the reason why you were asked to come to my office was because
you mentioned Barrister Lekan Davies' name.
KURT : yes. When they asked us if there was any refferal and I told
them he referred us here.
HM : please do you have any idea where he is?
KURT : hope there's no problem?
HM : no there's none. But I have information about his son, that's why
I've been looking for him.
KURT : (shocked)...his son? I don't  understand...his son is dead.
HM : no he's not dead. He was knocked down by a car and was saved by
those people that knocked him down.
BUKOLA : oh my God...
HM : he lost his memory for some time, but he was brought back here
some years ago but Barrister Lekan was nowhere to be found. So those
people kept him.
KURT : Jesus Christ....(Bringing out his phone)....I have to call him
here immediately....(Dialing Lekan's number)...Uncle...
RECEIVER : yes Jide, hope there's no problem?
KURT : Uncle you have to come here right away. Your son is alive!
RECEIVER : what are you talking about? Which son?
KURT : Uncle please come here immediately, you have to see the
head-mistress. She said he's not dead but was knocked down by a car,
so he lost his memory. Then, when he later regain it they brought him
here, looking for you.... Uncle just come down here so you can hear
her yourself...
RECEIVER : give her the phone immediately, let me speak to her...
KURT : okay sir....(Gives the phone to Victoria)
HM : (collects the phone) hello Barrister Lekan? This is...
RECEIVER : (cuts in)...please is what I'm hearing the truth? Is my son alive?
HM : yes. He's not dead. He was brought here by the couple...
RECEIVER : (cuts in)....I'm on my way there!
HM : okay...(Gives the phone back to Kurt)... He said he's on his way.
KURT : Uncle will be so happy...(Turns to Bukola)... You know he gave
up on everything after the incident.
BUKOLA : (shaking her head)...I'm so happy for him. At least now that
his son is alive, he'll feel more alive...
HM : in fact, I searched for him everywhere. They said he moved from
the house they were staying and they don't know his whereabouts.
BUKOLA : so how is the boy now?
HM : he's fine. He's now through with his secondary school in Ibadan
KURT : wow...he's now a big boy.
HM : yes.
BUKOLA : what of the family he's staying with, are they taking good care of him?
HM : oh yes, they are really trying. In fact they treat him like their own.
BUKOLA : oh...that's so nice of them.
KURT : I'm so happy for Uncle...all is not lost after all...
HM : meanwhile, you can proceed with Ladi's registration.
KURT : alright.

(They proceed to the admin office for Ladi's registration)

BUKOLA : Ladi, let's go...(Holding him)...
LADI : Aunty...
BUKOLA : yes dear?
LADI : can you make pancakes for me, just like mummy does?
BUKOLA : (looks at Kurt who gives her an approving wink)...yes dear I will.
LADI : I want to eat pancakes.
BUKOLA : don't worry I'll make you delicious pancakes okay?
LADI : okay...(Smiling heartily)...
KURT : Ladi, this is going to be your new school okay?
LADI : okay Daddy....but when is mummy coming back?
KURT : soon son. Mum will be back soon.
LADI : when she calls, I'll tell her about the new play house Aunty
just bought for me.
KURT : ...okay.

(While Ladi was taken for measurement, Kurt continues his discussion
with Bukola....)

KURT : Babe...I think it time I get us a house. We can't keep staying
in the hotel...
BUKOLA : I was actually waiting for you to say that.
KURT : though, I have some buildings scattered around, maybe we should
check them out so you can pick one.
BUKOLA : are they not occupied?
KURT : not all of them.
BUKOLA : alright.

(Less than an hour later, Lekan arrives at the Headmistress' office
and Miss Victoria was summoned....)

LEKAN : Miss Victoria....please what are you saying about my son being alive?
HM : that fateful day....(She explains everything to him)....
LEKAN : so where is he now? If I'd known he's alive I would have gone
to look for him.
HM : he's still with that family. It’s been almost a year now since I
went there last...I'd actually promised him that he'll come and spend
some time with me after his WAEC exams...
LEKAN : please give me the address.
KURT : but Uncle you can't just show up there. Its better she takes
you there and introduce you.
LEKAN : okay, please take me there....
HM : (thinks for a while)… okay...we can go next weekend
LEKAN : next weekend! But that's too far...please I beg you...
HM : okay...I'll take some time off work tomorrow, but that means we
have to return on or before 12pm.
LEKAN : absolutely no problem...where should we pick you up?

(Immediately they got back to the hotel, Lekan called Sukanmi and
explained everything to him and he promised to come over so they can
go to Ibadan together the following day.)





Immediately Lekan got out of the school, he puts a call through to
Sukanmi, telling him about Bolu. He was so excited he started coming
down to meet up with Lekan in order to go to Ibadan with him.

Lekan hardly slept throughout the night, looking at the time till 5am.

At exactly 5 a.m, he woke both Kurt and Sukanmi up to start dressing up...)

SK : (still feeling sleepy)...oh Bro, its just 5 a.m now, let's sleep
till six, we can still meet her up for seven.
LEKAN : no, go and dress up now if not I will leave you behind.
KURT : Uncle Kanmi, you know how happy Uncle has been since yesterday,
let's just go and dress up...(Stretching)
SK : oooohh....just when I was about finishing that sweet dream....
LEKAN : stand up o. I've dressed up since waiting for you people to
wake up....(Wearing his shoe)....if you're not ready in the next
15mins, I'm out of here.
KURT : uncle, I'll be ready...(Leaving for the bathroom....
SK : (still turning on the bed)....Jide when you finish from the
bathroom tell me...
LEKAN : what are you saying? Stand up joor!....anyway no problem, I'll
just leave you behind.
